Please note: Change re Tov Li lunches

31 Oct

Dear Summit Heights Families,

Tov Li Lunch Update:
The first Tov Li lunch that was scheduled for Friday November 2nd will be moved to Thursday November 15. Given the field trip for the grade 4 and 5 classes on November 2nd, it was decided to change the date to Thursday November 15th  to accommodate all the students.

A reminder message for the first Tov Li lunch will be sent prior to November 15th. We apologize for any inconvenience

Marla and Wendy

SHPS Hallowe’en Costume Reminder.

30 Oct

Hallowe’en Costume Reminders:

As in past years, many students wear/change-into Hallowe’en costumes at school on Hallowe’en (which is tomorrow, Wed. Oct 31st).

As a school policy based on safety, Hallowe’en costumes worn at school are not to have any weapons, masks are also prohibited (students need to be able to see where they are walking, see where they are running during PE class/recess, and staff need to be able to identify our students).

Thank you for your understanding, we look forward to a fun-filled day on Hallowe’en!

Tips from the Toronto Police Services:

Trick or Treat Safety Reminders For Children:

  • Be alert and aware of what’s going on around you.
  • Watch out for cars. Remember that it may be hard for drivers to see you.
  • Stay on well lit streets and always walk on the sidewalk.
  • Walk, don’t run, and obey all traffic signs.
  • Never take shortcuts through backyards, laneways or parks.
  • Do not go into anyone’s car or house, even if you know the person.
  • Stay away from lit pumpkins.
  • Do not approach pets or other animals.
  • Be polite and say “thank you.”
  • Wear costumes that are short enough so that you do not trip.
  • Decorate costumes with reflective tape.
  • Shoes should fit well so you don’t fall.
  •  When you go out, carry a glow stick or flashlight with new batteries.
  • It can be hard to see out of a mask, so use makeup or face paint instead.
  • Trick or treat in groups with a trusted adult – it’s safer and more fun.
  • Carry a cellular phone with you, if possible.
  • Visit only houses with the lights on.
  • Don’t eat any treats unless they are checked by a parent or the adult looking after you.
