Dear Summit Heights Families,
By now, you have likely heard from your child’s classroom teacher regarding Halloween related events happening at our school tomorrow, including costumes and possible class celebrations.
As a reminder, students are welcomed to wear a costume to school tomorrow (Fri. Oct 29). Please remember costumes that are offensive (including cultural appropriation) are not permitted. Weapons (e.g., swords, knives, clubs, guns etc) are also not allowed. Finally, students must also continue to wear their PPE masks, so Halloween masks are not allowed at school.
Our student council has organized daily Halloween-themed trivia (and prizes) on our morning announcements, as well as a poster contest! They are also hosting an age-appropriate “haunted house” in our gym tomorrow for students! We want to thank the outstanding efforts of our student council (and Ms. Brock, Ms. Zivkovic and Ms. Calvieri) for these great events!
Earlier this week, our SAC Primary Committee hosted the annual Pumpkin Patch for our kindergarten students. The event was a huge success! Thank you to the committee and all of the volunteers for making this happen.
Finally, with the return of Trick or Treating, there are some highlights from the Ontario Medical and Health Office:
- Doorsteps should not be overcrowded.
- Physical distancing should be maintained as much as possible.
- Trick-or-treating should be limited to outdoors and interactions should be kept brief.
- Hand sanitizer should be used often, especially before and after handling treats.
- Shouting should be avoided to reduce the spread of aerosols.
We wish all those who celebrate Halloween, a safe and enjoyable time!
Mr. B. Mah,
