Annual Terry Fox Day (Walk/Run)

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Over the past 25 years, Summit Heights has raised over $114 500 for the Terry Fox Foundation! What an incredible accomplishment and amazing contribution to cancer research!

Our Terry Fox walk will take place on Friday, September 23rd, with a rain date on September 28th. We will be walking through the ravine to Earl Bales Park. There will be parent volunteers spread out along the course. Runners from the cross country team will be leaving the school at 9:15 a.m. and the walkers will leave with their classes shortly thereafter. We will all meet up on the lawn at the Earl Bales Community Centre for freezies. The Kindergarten classes will be walking a modified route and will enjoy a snack at the school. We welcome any parent volunteers to walk or run with us – or cheer us on along the way!

Please ensure that the Excursion Form (part of the electronic back-to-school package) has been submitted before September 23rd so your child can participate. Please send your child wearing sunscreen, a hat and appropriate clothing for the weather on September 23. Bug spray may also be a good idea.

We are sending home a pledge form envelope with each child. Please return your envelope to your child’s teacher after all pledges have been collected. The last day for money collection will be Monday, October 3rd. Please ensure the envelope is returned by this date. A tax receipt will be issued by the Foundation for all donations over $20.00. Please print your address clearly on the pledge form/envelope and make all cheques payable to The Terry Fox Foundation.

You can also donate online by scanning the QR code (on the envelope) or visit:

We are encouraging all the students to work collaboratively for this very important cause. Thank you for your support.
