Communication

School to Home Communication

Most Fridays your child will bring home a “Friday File”. It will contain any communication from teachers, the main office and School Advisory Council (SAC) notices.  Examples of documents in the Friday File are: trip forms, general school wide notices and SAC notices (SAC notices are on goldenrod paper). Please check for the Friday File each week with your child, and return any required information on the following Monday in the file. Any notes for your teacher can also be sent via the “Friday File” or in the school agenda/planner.

Students from grades 2-6 will be using a daily planner. Please check the planner daily for homework and class information.

All teachers will also be communicating with the parents of their students.  This form of community is teacher-dependent (some have a blog, others use Google Classroom, some use apps like SeeSaw or Class Dojo, while others send home a newsletter).  Please be on the look out for your child’s teacher’s communication.  Teachers will explain any individual communication expectations for their particular classroom on curriculum night in September.

This web site will also have school-wide communication throughout the year.  The school also has an active Twitter account (@SummitHeightsPS).  If you don’t have a Twitter account, you can go to www.twitter.com and search “SummitHeightsPS” to see the tweets.  Alternatively, the tweets are shared on this web site in the top right corner (though keep in mind, there is a slight time delay in the re-tweets on this web site).
