Happy Holidays & Reminders

Dear Summit Heights Families,

On behalf of the entire staff at Summit Heights, happiest of happy holidays to you!  For those who celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas!  To those who celebrate Kwanzaa, Happy Kwanzaa!  Happy New Year to all!  We hope that you can rest, make great memories and remain healthy and happy throughout the winter break.

School is set to resume on Monday, January 3rd, 2022.  Please monitor the local news for any announcements regarding the return to school.

Please note, if we pivot to online learning (as directed by the TDSB, TPH and the Provincial Government), we will work to facilitate and distribute chromebooks (for those in need) in January, including communicating a plan and schedule.  Grade 5 students who opted in for the 1:1 device program may take home their device over the holidays.

Upcoming Events:
Dec 18 – Jan 2:  Winter Break
Jan 3 – School Resumes
Jan 14 – PA Day (no classes)
Feb 1 – SAC meeting (7-9pm)

Returning from Travel
Effective December 15, the Government of Canada has advised to avoid non-essential travel outside Canada. Any families with travel plans are encouraged to review the TPH COVID-19 Travel advice – including the requirements for unvaccinated children and youth. Currently, if children under 12 years old are not fully vaccinated, they are not to attend school/child care for 14 days. Children 12 – 17 who are not fully vaccinated are required to self-isolate at home for 14 days.

Screening Requirements upon Return to School
As a reminder, before coming back to school in January, students and staff will continue to be required to screen for COVID-19 symptoms. Students will continue to be required to show their signed Screening Pass before entering school each day. If your child is ill, stay home and follow the guidance in the screening passport.

Scholastic Book Fair Summary
Dear Summit Heights Families,

Thank You!  Our Scholastic Book Fair was a great success! Thank you to all families, teachers, and students who participated, supporting our school while enhancing home libraries. Your enthusiastic participation broke our Book Fair record this year!

Investing in your reader helped our school earn valuable Rewards that can be redeemed for new books for our school and classroom libraries, as well as supplies and Education Resources to benefit our students. Some of these profits will also be used for our new Makerspace initiative!

Thank you so much for participating in and supporting our Scholastic Book Fair!  Happy reading!
Have a wonderful holiday break and stay well everyone!

Gratefully,
Mrs. A. Greco
