School Update for December
Dear Summit Heights Families,
This just in from the TDSB:
As you may know, Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the City of Toronto saying travel will become hazardous.
With widespread blowing snow, damaging winds, poor visibility, and flash freezing currently being forecast for tomorrow and into the weekend, we have made the decision, together with the Toronto Catholic District School Board, to close all schools, administrative buildings and sites to students and staff tomorrow – Friday, December 23, 2022.
All Child Care centres and before and after school programs located in TDSB schools will also be closed and all permits will be cancelled for the day. All in-person Continuing Education after school and evening courses are also cancelled tomorrow. This includes – International Languages Elementary and African Heritage, Learn4Life Community Programs and Adult ESL
We recognize that these decisions can have a significant impact on thousands of families across Toronto and are not taken lightly, however given the current weather forecast, we felt it was prudent to make this decision now to provide families and staff with as much notice as possible.
As we approach the end of the day, please take home any belongings needed for tomorrow or over the Winter Break.
On behalf of the entire Summit Heights staff, we wish you a wonderful holiday season, one that is restful, enjoyable and memorable! Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy Omisoka and Happy Near Year!
We hope that this first half of school for your child(ren) has been positive and successful (academically, socially and emotionally). Raising children is a very challenging feat, and we recognize how there are many trials and tribulations in doing so. Please continue to support your child by encouraging them to overcome challenges and adversity. Sometimes things don’t always go our way, but there is success in having the right approach and tackling life’s obstacles, particularly if we don’t succeed at first. You child can succeed if they believe they can, if they put in some hard work and they get support where needed!
A reminder that school resumes on Monday, January 9th at the regular school time. Supervision in the school yard begins at 8:55am that morning. As usual, please monitor the TDSB website (www.tdsb.on.ca) and their Twitter account (@TDSB) for updates should there be weather conditions that delay the start of school and/or bus cancellations.

Congratulations to our Student Council for hosting such an amazing event!

Pick-up and Drop- Reminders (along Armour Heights)
Please be reminded that when dropping off or picking up your children, you should not block the driveways of properties in/around our school, nor should you park your vehicle in anyone’s driveway (unless you have permission to do so).
Further please abide by the rules about which side of the street you may park/stop on (on Armour Blvd in particular). The flow of traffic on this street is dependent on drivers correctly following the signage about where you are permitted to park/stop or not.
