School Update
Dear Summit Heights Families,
We hope this message finds you and your entire family well. Don’t forget, Monday is Victoria Day, there are no classes at Summit Heights on that day. We’re pleased to report that our school is very busy with many clubs, events, and activities – much like how it was before the global pandemic started.
If you haven’t already done so, please check out the SAC Online Auction, bidding closes at 8pm this evening! You can see the variety of auction items, view what the current bid is and hopefully make a bid at this link. SAC has also organized lunch programs (like chess and Fimo), a hot lunch program on Tuesdays, Freezie Friday’s and fundraisers for our Graduations!
In terms of sports, we had student leaders plan and lead a soccer clinic for students in grades 1-3 this past week in anticipation for the Student Council organized “soccer week” that takes place next week! Mr. Kellesis has been organizing a lunch hour softball house-league! Coaches Mercer, Chen & Zivkovic have been preparing our Ultimate teams for competition happening next month. Many students are practicing for Track and Field in class in preparation for our upcoming Track and Field days here at Summit (as well as inter-school competitions in June), see below for more information.
Thanks to Ms. Samson, approximately 30 students in various grades competed in the international Gauss Math Contest – good luck to everyone who took part!
While we are in the home-stretch of the school year, there’s still a lot of events coming up:

School Track & Field Day Info:
Summit Heights will be holding our annual Track and Field Days on Wednesday May 25th (grades 1-6) and Thursday May 26th (grades 7 & 8). Our rain date will be the following day on Friday May 27. This has been a very successful day in the past, giving students a great way to consolidate the skills they have been learning in Phys-Ed as well as an opportunity to have fun!
The primary students will be participating for the morning only, as they are participating in fewer events. The juniors will be participating all day. This means that all students should be coming to school prepared with the following labelled items: – Running shoes (no cleats) – T-shirt – Sweatshirts – Shorts – Hat – Water bottle (reusable preferred) – Sunscreen – Students with inhalers or epi-pens should also be wearing them at all times during the track and field day.
There will be a TDSB North Track and Field Meet on June 8th at Esther Shiner Stadium for students that are chosen for a Summit Heights team. More information will be shared at a later time.
We are all looking forward to a wonderful day of physical activity and fun!
