SHPS April 19 Update
Dear Summit Heights Families,
A happy belated Passover and Easter! We sincerely hope you and your family and friends had a wonderful long weekend.
It’s a Girl!
A warm congratulations to Mr.& Mrs. Chen and family who welcomed the newest addition to their family this past Sunday! Baby Chen and mom are doing well! Our entire Summit Heights Community are delighted to share this great news!
Accessible Parking Spots
For a few months the accessible parking spot sign had come dislodged from the fence, but the sign has since been reinstalled. We want to remind everyone that the two spots designated as accessible parking are only to be used for vehicles with a valid parking pass. Please do not use these spots if you do not have a parking pass, please do not use these spots for drop off.
Scholastic Book Fair is coming next week (April 25-29)
Our library is hosting a spring Scholastic Book Fair next week! The fair is open to students (in-person) during school hours, and like the previous book fair, there’s an online option as well! More information will be shared on our morning announcements and in class.
To participate online, please visit this link: https://virtualbookfairs.scholastic.ca/pages/5160075
Earth Day (Fri. April 22)
This Friday is Earth Day! Thanks to Ms. Bates, our school is organizing for a school and community clean up Friday afternoon. Our school will also be encouraging classes to:
- Let the Sunlight in (turn off unnecessary lights)
- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
- Limit Single use plastics
- Walk to School (if you live locally etc.)
Our community is also encouraged to wear BLUE and/or GREEN on Friday! And great news – during the TDSB Earth Hour last month, Summit Heights was able to reduce our electricity consumption by 46%! In fact, our school ranked 13th out of 473 TDSB elementary schools for electricity savings during Earth Hour – way to go everyone!!!
Thanks for reading!
Mr. B. Mah,
Principal.
